A man at the gas station selling dvds and cds holds up his beer and says
Im selling cds and dvds my man
Then he literally stops and says
You know u had too much to drink when u hold up your beer thinking u are holding up a dvd

CHEIKH IBRA FALL used to say “the harder the better.” It took eye a while to KNOW just what He meant by that. Looking back on the trials in my past, they helped make me HU eye am today. With-out the heartbreaks and pain, eye would not know the ETERNAL-internal power of Allah. In life, test and trails are like lifting weights in the spiritual gym. During the 1st week in the gym you may only be able to lift 10 lbs, but if at the end of the 1st year u can still only lift 10 lbs…..did you get any stronger? As the soul grows and develops more power, the test and trails become more trying, and they should!
When eye first came to our sufi order an elder brother on the path said “Abdallah, i want the hardest test possible from Allah.” When eye asked Ndiaga Niang why he wanted the hardest test possible, he replied with a smile “with the hardest test comes the highest spiritual realization.” Then he gave the analogy saying the wino on the corner wants 50 cent (not the rapper even though that’s all he is worth) to buy a bottle of wine in the next 10 mins, and a billionaire in Manhattan wants a million$ in the next 10 mins to buy the building the wino sleeps next to. Two different trials for 2 different people, not saying one is better than the other, but u can see the difference in intensity of the test.
In the Holy Quran Allah has said “surely with every difficulty comes the ease.” 99% of our problems in life come from our individual un-enlightened view point of the situation/problem. When you develop true knowledge of self you will find that your problems in life are similar to the unborn child of a barren woman, non existent in REALITY. “The man with no shoes prays to Allah for shoes, until he sees the man with no feet.”- sufi proverb

786. . . Half Empty Half Full?
One day on the subway in Philadelphia, a friend and EYE were discussing the concept of the glass half empty or half full. I noticed a young man across from us paying attention to our conversation. When I said “There is no spoon” (a line from the Matrix) the guy across from us said “What spoon and what glass are you talking about?” This of course became a teaching moment.l
Visualize a glass of water in front of you that is half full of water. Ask yourself the question “Is the glass half full or half empty?” The answer to the question will determine your outlook on life. Whether you know it or not, consciousness shapes reality. Your reality is the objectification of your state of consciousness. If you see the glass as half empty then you have a pessimistic, negative outlook on life. If you see the glass as half full you have an optimistic , positive outlook on life. If you see the glass as an illusion, and God as the only REALITY then you have the mind of a mystic. Your mind state and what you believe and view as real have a direct effect on your experience.
Research shows, from several projects, that placebo medicine can have a healing effect on people in a study if they believe it is real medicine.
“As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he.” “As above, so below”. “On earth as it is in heaven.” As above, and as it is in heaven , refer to consciousness, belief, and the spiritual plane. So below, and on earth refer to the physical plane of existence.
Before anything can manifest on earth, the physical plane, it must first exist on the spiritual plane in the world of ideas and belief. “ The Kingdom of heaven is within.” Within refers to your consciousness. It is not a physical place. “On earth as it is in heaven” means that which is first conceived by the mind’s eye, can be manifested here on the earth. Therefore we have the metaphysical concept “Thoughts are forms.” So I ask you is the glass half empty or half full? Just by believing and affirming in your state of consciousness that the glass is half full, you will begin to produce more abundance in your life. “My cup runneth over.”

in the Beginning God said “who passed gas in here! was it you Gabriel ?” LOL…but seriously, have you ever seen someone who was so spiritually gone, that they where no earthly good? true mystics have the best since of humor. we have all seen statues of the laughing Buddha. on the spiritual path finding balance is a must. often times it can be difficult for one who has beheld the highest spiritual truth in life, to stay on the ground where they are needed. when eye first started out on this journey, eye had visions of living under a bridge living off the earth.(the good old days) the sufis say “the one who has only Allah in their heart will have the world in their hands.” this is complete balance.
money is not the root of all evil. the love of money is the root of all evil. material possessions and wealth are only a problem on the path, if they inter into the heart. it is ok to have money and possessions as long as you are not possessed by money and possessions. so you may ask why do the spiritual teachings say renounce the world, give up everything if you want travel the spiritual path? the inner meaning of this is “do not hold anything in the heart or mind other than GOD!!!” Lord Krishna- Hari Krishna Hari Krishna, Krishna Krishna, Hari Hari- says in the Gita “the highest yogi in not the yogi in the mountains dreaming about the city. the highest yogi is the yogi in the city dreaming about the mountains.” what good is it to go on a spiritual retreat anywhere, if you carry everything you left behind with you, as thought forms, in your heart and mind???
our beloved Prophet Muhammad (alay he salam) said “be in the world as a traveler, and travel LIGHT.” becoming and BEING empty is foremost in the Buddhist dharma(teachings). one of my favorite sayings of the Buddha is “emptiness is form and form is emptiness.” we must become empty of all other than God without losing touch with all other than God. this is the balance! one of my sufi teachers in senegal, who was a very high master of the way, once said to me “God-Allah enters into the void.” when we become empty, God enters. in fact, it is not that God enters, becoming empty removes from the self, that which was not allowing the light of God to manifest though us that was already there. when we become empty, we lose the ego and since the “I” exist. when we lose this false since of “I”, we begin to function from the view point of “we”, not seeing ourselves as separate from others. remember we are all individualization of God who is ONE. in reality there is no “I” and “you”. there is only GOD…
